Welcome to TitanStartup.com the home of Glenbrook South High School’s newest course offering – the Startup Business Incubator.

What’s an Incubator?

We’re not talking about hatching baby chicks here. We’re talking about an immersive, real-world learning experience that teaches students how to start and run an actual business.

The Business Incubator model emerged in silicon valley as startup founders, angel investors, and venture capitalists attempted to mitigate the risks of starting new businesses. The model emphasises market testing, rapid iteration, and learning from continuous feedback loops.

Y Combinator is among the most recognizable incubators around having given birth to such behemoths as: DropBox, Reddit, HipMunk, Stripe, and CodeCademy to name a few such examples.

Who’s Eligible?

If you’re a student at Glenbrook South High School, this class is for you. No prior business courses are required to enroll. We’re looking for creative students that aren’t afraid to work in teams, venture into the unknown, and potentially get rich along the way.

Priority enrollment will be granted to Juniors and Sophomores.

How is this Course Different?

The strength of the Startup Business Incubator curriculum is rooted in its connection with the community. Industry professionals from Glenview will teach roughly half of the lessons throughout the year bringing practical knowledge and expertise into the classroom.

Instruction will be supported by GBS Business teachers Brian Whalen and Mike Macfadden who bring a combined two decades of teaching experience to the plate.

Why all the Fuss?

The entrepreneurial spirit is central to what makes America great. We believe it’s not only important but a moral imperative to prepare our students to continue the legacy of our great nation by stoking the flames of innovation, entrepreneurialism, and education.
